The Tenderloin is home to numerous artistic and cultural venues and locations. Thousands visit the neighborhood weekly to enjoy live music, theater, gallery exhibits and more. Arts venues vary from large theaters like The Orpheum to small black box venues such as the Cutting Ball and Exit Theaters and small boutique galleries. A local artistic gem in the neighborhood is the Tenderloin National Forest, once a troubled, filthy alley, was transformed to an outdoor garden, gallery and performance space in 2009.
